All over the world and at any latitude, wood has always been used for constructions. Almost everywhere there are centuries-old examples of wooden structures. Each of these masterpieces is influenced by the climate, the type of timber available in the area, the attention paid to project-making and to maintenance.
Austrian and Scandinavian pinewood has been used for many years in different regions characterized by high temperatures, up to 45 °C in summertime and high humidity, such as Sicily, the Caribbeans, Seychelles, Tunisia and so on.
In Europe the law provides that the wooden structures must be guaranteed for a period of 30 years, but in the reality there are a lot of older structures. Indoors glulam structures can even last over the centuries.
