On board a speedboat, refreshed by water spurts, we get close to Banana Island, one of the most luxury resort in the world, realized a few miles from Doha. The first thing catching our attention is the elegant and curvy shape of the glulam structure of the Welcome Center. The work is the resort’s flagship, a unique work of art, finalized to welcome all Banana Island’s guests with a warm welcome that only glulam structures can give. Canducci has realized it as project partner of the Austrian Group Mayr Melnhof Holz. Engineers had to face important challenges to reach this stunning result, as well as many logistic issues had to be overcome. Anyway, Canducci’s dynamism gave a prompt reply to all these matters and succeeded in solving each of them. “We are very proud of the realized work and grateful to the main contractor for the opportunity It gave us to show that glulam technology can be successfully used in the Gulf Area” – states the project’s manager Riccardo Canducci. We built many glulam constructions on Banana Island, as well as other European companies did. This is the incontrovertible evidence that glulam building is ready to get off the Middle East. |
